Governance and Management Structure

BWMI is a charitable incorporated organisation (Foundation Structure) who’s only voting members are its Trustees which was registered on the 7th of September 2020.

The Charity has a Board of Trustees comprising at least three persons. New Trustees may be recruited to the board at any time by the Trustees. In selecting individuals for appointment as Trustees, the Trustees must have regard to the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the CIO. The Trustees may, by and from their number and from time to time, elect such officers e.g. chair, secretary, treasurer, as they see fit.

The BWMI Committee meet in the hall bi-monthly (at least once every 2 months).

Trustee Plans for the Future

The Hall and Annexes should continue to be used on a regular basis and will be available for hire for functions. The Committee will continue to encourage the local residents to use the facility as much as possible.

The Committee will continue to hold events to raise money towards the running costs and also to help other charities in the village.

We are in the continual process of monitoring and applying for grants so that BWMI can notably (but not limited to):

  • enable easier access for people with a disability,

  • limit the hall's carbon footprint; and

  • overall, maintain & improve the facilities for the events the hall users.

Ongoing maintenance work will be carried out to ensure the buildings are kept in good running order.

Financial & Legal Policy

The BWMI Trustees have made the CIO a cash-free organisation by choice.

BWMI’s policy on financial reserves is to hold sufficient resources to continue the charitable activities of the BWMI should income and fundraising activities fall short for any reason.

Any surplus funds which are not likely to be needed to pay for activities, maintenance or improvement will be placed on deposit to prudently earn interest in reputable and ethical institutions with easy withdrawal access. Outgoings are managed prudently to protect the Hall and its future in the Community.

We monitor these funds in order to meet any unforeseen expenditure that may occur, for example property repairs, whilst also providing service and value back to the communities of Broughton and surrounding areas.

Key Public Indemnity Insurance policies and other licenses are monitored and maintained as required.

The CIO holds harmless at all times, all Trustees acting in the best interests of the Charitable Trust.
